Enrichment of new digital products for seamless travel experience

The objective is to provide online, personalized digital information and insights for LH passengers in the LH App as well as equivalent data for operations and planning departments along the process touch points (Curbside, Check-In, Security, Border Control, Gate) of the customer Journey at Frankfurt Airport.
Use Case 01 | Passenger Waiting Time Insights & Analytics
This use case aggregates available passenger process point data from security and border screening checkpoints as well as priority check-in in Lufthansa’s Terminal 1 areas and has been deployed. Please refer to Article

Use Case 02 | Flight Information Service (Provision of flight data via API)
The goal of this use case is to provide information about flight data, such as departure times and gates. Together with our project partners an application programming interface (API) has been developed which can be used for multiple use cases. The first consumer of this API is our partner “Convidera” who has developed a location-based service application that allows passengers to request real-time flight information.

Use Case 03 | Passenger Arrival Behaviour
This use case aims at developing an AI/ML prediction tool of the arrival pattern of passenger volumes at the curbside of Terminal 1. In the first project phase, the tool was built based on the prediction of passenger volumes at the security screening checkpoint. The developed model combines data from Fraport, Lufthansa and external sources.
The goal of the current project phase is to identify further use cases and operationalize the data product for Lufthansa and Fraport planning and operations departments. Technical adjustments and further development of the model will also be conducted. The final vision of this use case is to develop a Travel Buddy integration into the LH App for our passengers, which is a personalised travel assisant 'from home to gate'.

Use Case 04 | IRROPS
This new web application will enhance communication during phases of irregular operation at the airport as a first use case. Currently, the application is being tested by selected employees of Lufthansa operations. All important process points are captured in the application, and their status can be tracked automatically or manually, depending on the process point or area. With this information, responsible employees can make decisions e.g. regarding staff disposition and report these decisions as well.
Overall, the goal is to create transparency during phases of irregular operation.
